Are my files private and secure?

Your document lives in your own browser while you write — nothing is uploaded until you press Share. Creating a share link stores the document text on our server so the link works, and only the browser that created it holds the secret edit token. Shared documents are deleted 30 days after the last edit, and you choose whether the link is view-only or open for anyone to edit.

Do I need to install any software?

No. Online Word Editor works online in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS — there is nothing to download or install.

Do I need an account to use the online Word editor?

How does sharing work without a login?

Pressing Share stores the document and gives you a link. By default the link is view-only; you can switch it to “anyone can edit” for quick collaboration. The secret token that controls those settings stays in the browser that created the document.

How long is a shared document kept?

A shared document is removed 30 days after its last edit. The copy in your own browser stays until you clear your browser data or start a new document.
